Tennis courts to be unveiled

Sports fans are being invited to a 150-year-old tennis centre to try out its revamped facilities.

The improvements at Basford Lawn Tennis Club include four floodlit artificial grass courts.

They were due to be unveiled yesterday, but the grand opening has had to be rescheduled because of the bad weather. It will now take place on Sunday, April 7 at 2pm.

Old and new members can go along on the day to help mark the new era for the centre.

The club, which was founded in 1883, was originally located behind the Queen's Hotel. It moved to its present location, off West Avenue, Basford, in 1926.
