Centre shows off new courts

SPORTS fans have been invited to a 150-year-old tennis centre after it underwent a major improvement.

Players at Basford Tennis Club will be celebrating with an official open day event on the refurbished courts, which include four floodlit artificial grass areas.

They were due to be unveiled last month but the opening had to be rescheduled because of the bad weather.

The club, founded in 1883, was originally located behind the Queen's Hotel.

It moved to its present location in 1926.

The event, open to members new and old, will take place on Sunday at 2.00pm.
