Staffordshire Tennis Association Grants

EXHIBITION MATCHES AT BASFORD

The Council of the Staffordshire Lawn Tennis Association last night approved the accounts in connection with the exhibition matches by international players at Basford on May 11th, and the balance of £108 9s. 4d. was allocated as follows:-

North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary, £45; Royal Hospital Wolverhampton, £45; Staffordshire General Infirmary £28 9s. 4d.

The Hon. Secretary (Mr. F. T. Jacks) expressed the thanks of the council to the officials and members of the Basford Club for their assistance, and, in reply, Mr. H. B. Mawdesley, President of the club, said how pleased everyone connected with the Basford Club had been to give what help they could on such a great occasion.

SUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT

In seconding the adoption of the accounts, Mr. A. G. Aldridge (Wolverhampton) said the result of the experiment had been eminently satisfactory, and he hoped it would be the forerunner of other similar events.

Mr. J. Fielding Taylor (Chairman of the council) who presided, said he was sure the exhibitions had done much good for tennis generally in Staffordshire, and he hoped it would not be long before they could undertake another effort on the same lines.
