Success of the Annual Supper Dance

The reconstructed banqueting chamber at the North Stafford Hotel presented an animated appearance last night on the occasion of the annual supper dance of Basford Lawn Tennis Club. The function, which is always one of the most pleasant of the year, was attended by about 140 members and friends of the club.

The arrangements for the evening had been made by a committee of which Mr. H. T. Heatley was Chairman and Mr. F. W. Wilkes Hon. Secretary. The other members were Mrs. Heatley, Miss M. C. Hocken, the Misses R. and M. Allerton, Miss J. Hopwood, Miss J. Lewis, Miss V. Moulds, Miss E. Teeton, Miss N. C. Hilditch and Messrs. C. Broomhall, G. C. W. Barker and R. A. Harrison.

An up-to-date programme of music was provided for dancing during the evening by an amateur group of instrumentalists under the title of the Maoris Dance Band, of which the leaders were Mr. R. A. Harrison and Mr. R. K. Bailey. After supper, a short but entertaining cabaret was given by Messrs. R. A. Harrison, R. K. Bailey and G. C. W. Barker. During the evening, an exhibition by Mr. C. Bourne and Miss Burgess of the Rialto Ballroom, Stoke, of the blues waltz, quick-step, waltz and slow fox-trot proved a pleasant interlude.
