Lawn Tennis

On Saturday, the Basford Lawn Tennis Club played their first match of the season against the Endon Club, on the ground of the latter, when a most enjoyable afternoon was spent, the visitors being received with every hospitality. Details of play:-

MIXED PAIRS.-Miss B. Varcoe and Mr. A. Varcoe (B), beat; Miss Hulme and Mr. C. Tennant (E), 6-2, 6-3; Miss E. Powell and Mr. Morgan (B), beat; Miss A. Heaton and Mr. Hollinshead (E), 6-3, 6-5; Miss Tennant and Mr. F. Tennant (E), beat; Miss Baker and Mr. W. Forshaw (B) 6-5, 4-6, 6-2; Mrs. Heatley and Mr. Henstock (B), beat; Miss M. Hulme and Rev. J. Badnell (E), 6-4, 6-0.

LADIES' PAIRS.-Miss E. Powell and Miss B. Varcoe (B), beat; Miss Heaton and Miss M. Hulme (E), 6-3, 6-0.

GENTLEMEN'S PAIRS.- Messrs. Henstock and Morgan (B), beat; Rev. J. Badnall and Mr. Hollinshead (E), 6-1, 6-1; Messrs. Varcoe and Forshaw (B), beat; Messrs. F. and C. Tenant (E), 6-4, 6-2.

RESULT.-Basford won 6 rubbers to 1, 13 sets to 2, and 85 games to 44.
