Basford Tennis Club

I heartily congratulate the Basford Lawn Tennis Club upon the new courts, the first hard green courts to be constructed in the district, which were opened by Miss Joan Fry. Everybody was delighted to see Miss Fry, and everybody is enthusiastic about the new courts. It was a blessing in disguise when some of the members of the Wolstanton Council prevented the closing of the footpath at the top of Basford Bank, and thus caused the club to abandon the idea of having the new courts there. The new courts are further up the hill, and the Club is fortunate in its new home. It is a splendid development, and I have no doubt that the club has a very prosperous and happy future.
