Basford's Success in County Doubles

BASFORD Lawn Tennis Club, represented by their second team, have cause for satisfaction over their splendid success in the county junior doubles competition. The final was played at Stone, and Basford "B" defeated Wolverhampton "B" 6-3, 7-5, 12-10.

The final set was a particularly grim and lengthy affair, the Wolverhampton players putting up a spirited reply to the attack of the Basford team. The Basford pair were C. J. Noke and F. L. Wilkes, and Wolverhampton were represented by J. Spencer and V. Partridge. The cup was won by Wolverhampton last year when they regained it from Basford, who were successful in 1927. Previous to the competition in 1927 Wolverhampton held the cup for three successive years.
