Basford Lawn Tennis Club...

The four hard green courts of the Basford Lawn Tennis Club are nearing completion as is the handsome brick pavilion, designed by Messrs. Hollins and Jones of Newcastle. Two of the courts will be formally opened by play on Thursday afternoon, the 22nd **. There should be some interesting play, as in addition to Miss Joan Fry, the following good players will be playing:- Miss Margaret Wynne holder of the Congleton Cup, Mr. Claude Whitehouse and Mr. B. H. Cope. The two ** are both prominent members of the best Wolverhampton club, and all four are Staffordshire County players.
